(Mrs. Ghiyaas, Bahawalnagar)
It was a strange state of helplessness, there was no one to listen to me or understand me. We gave double the fare and reached the designated airport but it wasn’t our lucky day, the plane had taken off. We came back to their house crying and shivering. After the visa time was over, staying there was illegal.
Human life is based on sad and happy events and occurences, feelings and realizations. It is full of a variety of memories but we don’t always write them down. Sometimes, however, the emotional feelings behind some specific event are so overwhelming, that they force the person to document it in writing.
One such incident comes to my mind again and again. After completing Umrah, our return was due on 18th May. 19th May was the last day of our visa expiry. We have close relatives in Jeddah so when they insisted, we came to their house on the evening of 17th May. They dropped us to the airport, a man at the airport gave us all the required information, flight time and which airport to go to. But look at our destiny, it wasn’t that airport. We saw unknown faces all around.
It was a strange state of helplessness, there was no one to listen to me or understand me. We gave double the fare and reached the designated airport but it wasn’t our lucky day, the plane had taken off. We came back to their house crying and shivering. After the visa time was over, staying there was illegal. We tried our best but were to get the ticket after three days. We spent that night on thorns. We couldn’t rest for a single moment. We kept fidgeting around, reciting Astaghfaar continuously. At 4 a.m in the morning, my son went with his uncle to the airport in hopes that they might see some familiar face and find a way out.
We got to know that a flight was leaving for Pakistan and if someone did not turn up, they will have a chance. The flight was at 7 a.m and we got informed at 6 a.m, the time was very short. With additional mental stress, we rushed to the airport, boarded, and now people from different countries were standing in the queue, and going ahead of them in rush was very difficult. The passengers of this flight started moving towards the airbus. Only 6 passengers now remained in the waiting room, who had to come to Pakistan in this flight. Standing in the queue our hearts were sinking. Then suddenly we were informed that the computer system was jammed. We also had gone already inside where the papers were to get stamped. After half hour of efforts, the system was finally restored and look at Allah SWT’s Glory, our papers were the first to get cleared, and those passengers who were present before us got cleared after us. That Rab of ours is so Merciful and blesses His people so much! Even after all our faults and shortcomings, He, the Almighty Allah, helps us in difficult times. He blesses us with His invisible help, and covers for the deedless and immoral people.
