The people who fast should make appropriate use of milk, yogurt, lassi. According to my experience fast should be opened with a fruit, milk or yogurt and it is beneficial to take meal after the maghrib prayers. For an alternative diet the vegetables that are available are beneficial if eaten along with or blended together or with meat.
The truth is that we are doing a lot of injustice to ourselves when it comes to our diets. There would be hardly any fortunate person who would take proper care about his/her health. It is an everyday observation that we tend to fall asleep after a lot of hard work. But instead of giving our brains some rest we do not give up our academic work. And due to accumulation of toxic wastes in our veins and tissues we start having head ache. And this is the reason that our intellectual power releases toxic wastes from our bodies and warns us about the need to take rest by creating tension and pain in our body. And we start using aspirins. By gaining temporary benefits and not curing the real illness we acquire cardiac and mental ailments. Our stomach is made of veins and muscles that digests the most indigestible diet only in a few hours. Our stomachs signal us for their requirement of rest in the form of stomach ache, gastric, or loose motions and vomiting due to untimely diets, hard to digest diets having high fat content or due to week digestive secretions. And since we do not stop eating, and become patients of ill digestion. Allah almighty has made fasting obligatory for one month in a year, and made it a cure for our health.
By taking rest for 12 hours in a day the sourness of the digestive secretions of the stomach increases. In our society it is complained a lot about the tastelessness of food. And the complaint about poor digestion is very common among people as well. At the time of iftaar such patients enjoy the food. I have a suggestion for them to do iftaar according to the sunnah of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) with dates, sweet, apples, guava, banana, orange, dry figs, khobaani, manqi or raisins. The momentum gained by remaining hungry for 12 hours should not be wasted by eating samosas or pakoras, cakes or sweets. By eating junk food all the time our gums become sore and a layer of plaque forms on our teeth. And our teeth develop cavities due to this and they become weak. Beautiful and healthy teeth add to our looks and beauty. Good teeth also help in digestion of food too. The people who suffer from lack of sleep should become busy in their work after iftaar. And after praying the taraaweeh they should go straight to their beds and should not eat anything. And make their minds free of worldly worries and sleep. Due to the light exercise of taraaweeh ample blood flows through the legs and they become stronger and due to peace of mind one enjoys the sleep. Fasting is a marvelous cure for nervous tension and blood pressure.
The people who fast should make appropriate use of milk, yogurt and lassi according to their financial situation. According to my experience fast should be broken with a fruit, milk or yogurt and food should be eaten after maghrib prayers, as it is more beneficial. As a substitute diet, the vegetables that are available these days should be eaten along with meat. Cabbage is slow to digest, so it should not be cooked with lentils. Paraatha is also slow to digest, besides it looses its nutrition as it is cooked in oil or ghee. Hardworking and people with stronger stomachs should eat roti by applying ghee on it and making a choori out of it, they will extract a lot more nutrition out of it as compared to paraathas.
According to the research of hakeems, blending an egg in warm milk, or eating a half fried egg is good for digestion. It creates blood in the body and calcium too. It strengthens the muscles and bones. It is useful in the cases where excess urine is produced. And relaxes the tired muscles.
