Sheikh Shahabu Din Soharwardi رحمت اللہ علیہ has narrated a story that’s also being mentioned by moulana rumi رحمت اللہ علیہ that once there was a fight between the romans and the Chinese. Romans claimed that they are better artisans and decorators, the Chinese also claimed the same. This case was brought in front of the king. He ordered both the parties to show their skills to him and then he will decide which one is better. The king built a house and built one wall in between the house. He ordered the romans to decorate half of the house and the other half will be decorated by the Chinese. The Chinese plastered the wall and draw flowers and plants of different colors. They turned their part of the house very colorful with plants and flowers. On the other side the romans plaster the wall and did not draw even one flower or plant nor did they painted it instead they cleaned the wall so much that it turned into a shining and clear mirror. Anyone could see his face in it like a mirror. When both the parties finished their work, they asked the king to examine it. The kind ordered to remove the wall from between the house to better compare and judge the work by them. When the wall was removed all the drawings of the Chinese could be seen on the roman walls and all those colorful flowers and plants were reflected on those walls. The king was surprised and could not decide as to who is the winner because the same drawings could be seen on both sides. At last the decided in favor of the romans as their artistry was better because they showed their art as well as stole the art of the Chinese due to their mastery and skill. Moulana room after narrating this story advises o dear! You should apply the example of the art of the romans on your heart, clear your heart with hardship and struggle so that even you sit at your home your hear can see all the colors and beauty of the world. You should open the window of your heart so that all the dirt and dust will be cleaned from it and enlighten it with light of ALLAH’s knowledge. You will start to observe the secrets and facts of this world by sitting at home. Such clear hearts get the blessings of ALLAH directly from HIM and not dependent on the book or teacher. It keeps on getting more and more enlightened. Jealousy, animus and hate are diseases for the heart. With these diseases a person cannot get blessings or comfort in the worship. People enjoy participating in the non-Islamic gatherings and parties but feel overburdened in the religious gatherings. There are less people attending the religious gathering as compared to the social get together. This all is the result of these heart diseases mentioned above. Joining the circle of ALLAH’s friends we can clean our hearts. When your heart will say ALLAH ALLAH all the dirt, jealousy, animus will vanish from your heart then you will feel comfort and blessed in your worship. You will hate all the sins and will love the virtue and virtuous people, because on the last day the deeds will be weighed not counted and the weight in the deeds is gained with pure intentions. Purity of intentions is always in the clean hearts and the heart is cleaned after serving the friends of ALLAH. Purity of the heart was also a responsibility of the Nabi ﷺ, as ALLAH said “  ویعلمھم الکتاب و الحکمتہ و یزکیھم   ” this convent system is actually a prophetic duty.
