Domestic Psychological Problems and their Solutions

My Weakness:  I study in the university. In university all students remain silent while I speak about every problem with my professor and in this way our issues get resolved. For this many people in the institute get jealous of me and make mockery of me. But I do not respond them and this is my weakness. (Iqbal Majeed – Karachi)

Suggestion: You get on the solution of the problems so you are doing a great work. It means you have got leadership qualities and you know how to lead others. This is very positive and you should not distract yourself with the negative attitude of others and you must carry on your good work by just focusing on the positive behaviors and people.

Inferiority complex: My elder sister is suffering with the inferiority complex as she remains silent all the time. She has not got married and so far my parents have rejected many proposals for me. My parents are very worried because of her. As of now, she has left going to ceremonies. (Naseem Khan –Lahore)

Suggestion: If she is not getting proposals, then it should not be a cause of distress and or inferiority complex for her. Ask her to stay positive and be active in many household chores as it will leave her busy with the tasks. In this way she will not get into any negative thought process. If your proposals are coming, then your parents should proceed with it and they should be bothered about people perception in it. On the right time, your sister will also have some good proposal.

Animosity with own self: There is a custom of two marriages in our family, but this is limited to village. I live in the city because my husband is here for a job. I am second wife of my husband. Here I have a friend who embarrasses me of being a second wife due to which I am in discomfort state. I have demanded of separation from first wife to my husband or I must get divorce. My husband is thinking about it. I am in very complex situation as anger creeps in when I start to think about my past incidents. I am suffering from self-hate due to this. (F, Lahore)

Suggestion: You must not allow other to interfere in your affairs. Keep yourself away from them. You should not think like this and just focus on the current conditions. You are advised to have harmony with your husband and initiate it if you can. Do not allow others to discuss your personal affairs like this. Change your thinking pattern as now conditions are much better, while being negative will convert your good moments into bitterness.

Surrounded in my mind: I am MA student; I have such problems, which I don’t know to whom I tell? There are two issues with me, First of all, whenever I see a new face, it sticks to my mind and revolves around for a good time. It creates very discomfort with me. Second whenever, someone like my mother or grandmother touches me, I feel that I get warm by this. I do not know, whether this is due to physical or mental issue.

Suggestion: This is natural that when you see a new face, it sticks to your mind for some time. It depends on the Importance of the incident and the faces which stay in our memories for the longer period of time. But staying and revolving of every new face seen is bit abnormal and it can be devastating for the person, so therefore it is better to refocus yourself on some other task and thinking so that it evades from your memory. Coming to warm sensation upon touching, it is advised that not to over think about it, as it is merely your feeling, it has nothing to do with your body temperature. So by ignoring your stated issues, you can overcome the same, and try to focus on some other tasks and thinking.
