During first 10 days of Ramazan after Zuhar prayer in Khatoli village, few visitors from Madaris were appealing for financial help for their religious schools. Shortly, few religious people gathered and started talking. Writer thought that this might be a scheduled meeting but, when overheard comments of two persons, realized that this is not a meeting rather few people who think of themselves to be religiously responsible are giving comments on the visitors appealing for financial help. One Haji Sahib said that they come like a procession; other said that they are just gathering funds and keep 50% for themselves. Another Haji Sahib exclaimed that these people have opened shops, any tom, dick & harry establishes a Madrassa. Another person also gave a sarcastic remark.
A young person present and listening to these remarks but whose heart was blessed with generosity by Allah (SAW) said that if I have the permission I wish to say something. People said OK. He said,“You people say that 50% of the charity goes to the individual pockets of the collectors. I say that even if collectors keep 99% and only 1% goes to Madrassa, still it will be an honor for me as the collector who is keeping 99% for himself, is serving the Madrassa too and it is still better than those thousands of rupees which we spend on watching movies, spend on rituals of weddings and other sinful deeds.” The crowed was stunned and the gathering disbursed but I am still thinking that how kind is Allah that even in this sinful period of time he has kept such people in this Ummah. People with positive approach and I feel that we have committed a mistake by not thinking positively towards Madrassas and the people serving the Madrassas. We have been unable to influence public opinion in this regard.
People serving the Madrassas despite having a lot of ego, go door to door with their receipt books so that coming generations can be saved from hell; and ignorant people pass negative comments on them. The person serving the religion and religious education at minimum level is far more God-fearing as compare to the most honest trader etc. Therefore it is necessary that there should be respect for these fortunate soldiers of Allah’s battalion; take caution in saying anything disgraceful in their honor.
